We're growing!

Great Lakes Chi Alpha has seen incredible growth since we started in 2006. At that time we had 22 groups in our five states. Today we have almost 50. We are working towards our goal of having a ministry on every campus and hope to be on 100 by 2014.

What is Great Lakes Chi Alpha?

Check out these links to  learn more about What We Believe and Who We Are as a whole organization. Great Lakes Chi Alpha exists to implement the vision of Chi Alpha Campus Ministries USA in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio by:

Mobilizing Workers

We mobilize workers by sharing the vision of changing the world through reaching the campus at Chi Alpha groups, Bible colleges, and churches.  As laborers respond to this call, we provide: training in support raising, coaching for pioneering, and pastoral care.

Building Teams

We put missionaries together into pioneering teams.  In conjunction with state entities and local churches, we work  to place teams on campuses that are a “good fit”.  We also bring together missionaries and workers to create and produce resource materials.  Work teams plan and execute area wide student conferences.

Developing Leaders

We provide leadership development and training for students and staff.  We have several staff training events each year.  There are also conferences for students.  At each of these there are also staff training components.   In conjunction with our state directors, we provide mentoring and coaching.

Providing Care

Working in a secular university environment is not easy.  We provide pastoral care to our missionaries and workers through regular phone calls, visits, and gifts.  Visiting a local ministry is a wonderful way to show love and appreciation to our missionaries.  Another way we show care to our staff is through providing quality ministry to the children of our workers.

Starting Ministries

All we do has one goal — starting new ministries.   In addition to putting together missionary teams, we work  to identify, train, and coach churches who want to reach out to the campuses located near them.  We partner with districts to identify creative strategies and models for unique situations.
